Davar is a Hebrew word that carries a rich and profound meaning. It can refer to a word, a matter, an event, or a message. In Hebrew thought, a word is never merely a sound or a collection of letters. A davar has the power to become reality and bring about change and action.
In counselling, a person’s story is not simply a collection of past events. When it is given space to be spoken and understood, it can become the beginning of something new.
In the original Hebrew text of the Old Testament, the noun davar appears approximately 1,454 times. While it has a range of meanings, one of its most significant and frequent uses is to refer to the word of the LORD. For example, in Psalm 119:105, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path," the Hebrew word translated as "word" is davar.
At Davar Counselling, our conversations are stories waiting to be heard, experiences seeking meaning, and opportunities for transformation. More importantly, we pray that God's Word would bring light, healing, hope, and lasting change to people's lives.
